Front Desk Demo status

Cash machines & terminals

Devices that handle money should never be public servers.

Cash machines, payment terminals, and time-delay safes live in convenience stores, restaurants, casinos, and hotels, on networks their operators don't control. Front Desk gives support a controlled way in, without exposing anything to the internet.

The operator's problem

Your machine, their store, nobody's inbound ports.

The machines need software updates, service checks, configuration, and occasional remote GUI access. The store network belongs to the store owner. Opening inbound ports is unacceptable, and site-to-site VPN setup is slow and different at every location.

Clear boundaries

The support path, not the payment path.

Front Desk is the controlled device-access layer for support and operations. It does not touch or replace your transaction network, payment security program, or cash-management systems, a boundary that makes it easier for security reviews to reason about.

Operator questions

Asked by machine operators.

Does remote access to a cash machine mean opening inbound ports?

No. The machine makes outbound contact to Front Desk, and support connects through a controlled portal. A cash machine must never be a public server, and with Front Desk it is not.

The store owns the network. Will they approve this?

Outbound-only access is normally a much easier approval than inbound firewall rules or a site-to-site VPN. The store network only needs to allow outbound traffic to approved Front Desk domains.

Can access be approved and audited?

Yes. Access requests can route to an approver who sees who is asking and for which device, and session history keeps a record of what was requested, when, and what happened.

Does Front Desk replace our transaction or cash-management systems?

No. Front Desk is the controlled device-access path for support and operations. Your transaction network, payment security program, and cash-management systems stay exactly as they are.

Keep the machine private. Keep support in.
